Stockton-on-Tees Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Alternative Provision Sufficiency Statement 2026 to 2029
Purpose
Local authorities have a statutory duty under the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Code of Practice to secure sufficiency of provision for children and young people with SEND in their area. This means they must plan, commission and review provision to ensure there is a range of appropriate, high quality support available locally so that needs can be met as close to home as possible.
This sufficiency statement sets out how the Council will work with local area partners to fulfil our duty for education provision, and support our vision for children and young people with SEND and those who require alternative provision to make Stockton-on-Tees a great place to grow up, where children and young people are protected from harm and supported to be the best they can be in life.
