Admissions zones
A number of years ago, the Council introduced an admissions zones policy which gave every school in the Borough a defined area.
These historic admissions zones are designed so that most postcodes in Stockton-on-Tees are "in-zone" for at least one community school and one faith school.
However, following academy conversion not all Stockton schools continue to operate these defined 'admission zones', in particular Academy Trusts that are the admission authority for faith schools. For example Roman Catholic academies no longer operate admission zones but include specific criteria related to 'faith' which requires additional evidence to be submitted to the school directly. In addition faith secondary schools also include 'Feeder schools' as a criteria whereby attendance at a named faith primary school as detailed in their admission policy increases the chance of gaining a place. You can find more detail on the individual school website.
Ian Ramsey CE Academy (part of the Northern Lights Learning Trust) no longer operate an 'admission zone' but include specific criteria related to 'Feeder schools'. This means that if your child attends either a named Stockton Church of England (CE) primary school or a 'Designated Cluster' primary school as detailed in their admission policy this increases the chance of gaining a place. You can find more detail on the school website.
We cannot always guarantee to meet your preferences for a school place if the school is oversubscribed.
