Pension Credit
Pension Credit is a benefit for people aged 66 and over that tops up weekly income for people who have reached State Pension age.
It can help you get extra benefits like:
- Winter fuel payment
- help with heating costs
- help with rent and Council Tax
- help with the cost of NHS services, for example NHS dental treatment, glasses and transport costs for hospital appointments
- free TV licence for those aged 75 or over
Pension Credit backdating rules make it is possible to apply for Pension Credit and have the claim backdated by up to 3 months, as long as there is entitlement during that time.
