Local Plan
Our Local Plan sets out policies and proposals to guide planning decisions and establishes a framework for sustainable economic growth and development in the Borough up until 2032.
Our Local Plan (PDF, 8 MB) covers issues including:
- how many new homes are needed and where they should be located
- the amount and proposed location of new employment land
- how we can protect and enhance the natural and historic environment
- plans for new infrastructure and the improvement of town centres and community facilities
We use our Local Plan (PDF, 8 MB) and the maps associated with it (Local Plan - map policies (PDF, 4 MB) and Local Plan - map insets (PDF, 3 MB)) to help us make decisions on planning applications. You can view the policies on our interactive map (although the PDF versions remain the adopted version and will form the basis of decision making should and discrepancies identified).
An emerging Local Plan is in development, which will replace this Local Plan. Information is available on the emerging Local Plan page.
