Free and fun activities on offer for the summer holidays

Bookings are now open for a range of fun and free activities for eligible children throughout the summer holidays.
There's lots of fun activities across the Borough for eligible children in Reception to Year 11 to choose from, including:
- horse riding
- gymnastics
- football
- sports
- arts and crafts
- air Trail
- music making
- gym passes
- specialist Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) sessions
These activities are available through the Holidays Are Fun (HAF) programme, which is funded by Department for Education.
To be eligible, families must be in receipt of benefits-related free school meals or meet the wider criteria which can be found at on the HAF webpage.
Each session includes a free nutritious meal for every child taking part and 60 minutes of physical activity.
Sessions will run from Tuesday, July 22 to Friday, August 29, excluding Monday, August 25.
Bookings will stay open for each activity until the day of the activity or until the session is full. If a session is full, parents and carers will still be able to register their child to the waiting list and they will receive an automated email if places become available.
Councillor Clare Besford, the Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said: "If you are new to the HAF programme or have been before, there are a wide range of activities available, meaning there is something for everyone to take part in.
"It would be fantastic to hear about children who have not attended before take part in some of the exciting activities we have over the summer. There's so much to choose from, with tailored offerings for children in primary school, secondary school and children with special educational needs also.
"HAF is a great way to ensure children are socialising, learning and having fun. The sessions are first-come, first-served so I would urge you to get registered and booked as soon as possible."
