Bob Cook

Councillor Bob Cook

Councillor Bob Cook represents Norton South Ward.

I am married to Sandra with two daughters and four grandchildren and have lived in Norton for over 40 years. I was first elected as a councillor in 1987 to Stockton District Council for a four-year term and during the last year I chaired the Leisure Services Committee. I had a two-year break and then stood in the 1993 Cleveland County Council elections and was elected to serve the old ward of Blue Hall in Norton.

When it was decided to have a unitary council for Stockton in 1995 I was elected to the Norton Ward representing Norton South. I was the Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport from 2000 until I was elected as Leader of the Council in May 2011.

I am also Group Leader of the local Labour Group. I worked in the Chemical Industry for thirty years before taking up the post of Agent Office Manager for Alex Cunningham, MP for Stockton North in June 2010.
