What BMBF do
Since 2017 BMBF have been involved in organising, hosting and being part of some great projects and events.
Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF) Correspondents
Our SIRF Correspondents are a team of creative young people who get exclusive access to the amazing events at Stockton International Riverside Festival. Your job?
- take photos and videos
- interview performers
- run our BMBF social media for the weekend
You'll give the whole Borough a fresh, young perspective on one of its biggest festivals. It's all about letting your creativity shine while having an incredible time!
Join the team to learn new skills and interview the people behind the Borough's biggest events.
Events
Secret Sound - your music, your stage!
We host our very own music night for young people at the iconic Georgian Theatre - and you can be part of it!
BMBF members help with:
- recruiting amazing young artists
- selling tickets
- advertising and promotion
- hosting the event
Every penny raised goes straight back into projects and events for young people. Love music? Love being part of something big? This is your chance!
Takeover Day - step into their shoes!
Once a year the Council hands over the reins to BMBF members. You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at how your local Council works by taking over departments and services for the day. It's a unique opportunity to learn, lead, and make your voice heard!
Social media
BMBF has its own Facebook and Instagram pages, giving you the chance to:
- post about the latest issues facing young people
- show off the amazing things happening in our Borough
- share behind-the-scenes content from events and projects
- celebrate your ideas and creativity
It's your platform to speak up, get involved, and inspire others. Follow us and start making an impact today!
Campaigning
Since 2017, BMBF has been using feedback from the Make Your Mark consultation to find out what matters most to young people in Stockton-on-Tees. We've campaigned and raised awareness of these issues with Local Ward Councillors, MPs, and Council leaders to make sure your voice is heard.
From 2024 to 2026, the top priorities were Health & Wellbeing and Community Safety. In response, we:
- hosted events to bring young people together, such as our Charity Shop Fashion Show
- delivered our annual Secret Sound music night to give young people a space to attend their first ever music event in a safe environment
- launched the Mindful Me booklet - a guide specially designed to help young people navigate life's challenges
- developed the Stay Safe: Contacts That Matter cards - a handy pocket guide to lots of helpful contacts and websites to support with your safety, mental and physical wellbeing and your education and training
As Make Your Mark comes to an end, we're teaming up with other youth councils across the North East to create an exciting new way for young people to share their views. Stay tuned - big things are coming!
