Petitions scheme
If you are concerned about something the Council is responsible for, or that the Council can influence, you can submit a petition to the Council. Petitions allow you to raise concerns that are important to you and have a direct influence on the political process.

Guidelines for submitting a petition
We consider petitions with a minimum of 10 signatures that are about an issue that the Council has a responsibility for. Petitions with 1,000 signatures or more will automatically be referred to a meeting of full Council for a full and proper debate.
Petitions can be submitted in a paper copy format or electronically using the Council's e-petition scheme.
The Council will send an acknowledgement of receipt of a petition within 10 working days of receipt. We will also advise how long we think we will need to consider the issue.
A petition should contain a clear statement of the person's concerns and what the person wants the Council to do with the name, address and signature of any person supporting the petition.
Paper petitions must have the petition statement, person's concerns and what the Council is being asked to do on each individual page of the petition.
Petitions will be accepted from members of the public, including under 18s, who either live, work or study in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees.
