Food safety training courses

Our food safety training courses are open to food business owners and their employees.

We offer nationally-recognised qualifications that are delivered by specialist trainers who have industry experience or are current enforcement officers.

In House Training

Our specialist trainers can deliver cost effective in-house training courses to organisations and their staff at a time and location of your choice. This is a convenient way to provide staff training, all you need to do is provide a venue, refreshments and delegate list and we will do the rest. Food Allergen Training

This course covers everything you need to know to comply with the EU Food Information Regulations relating to listing allergens, including labelling for prepacked for direct sale (PPDS) food.

Our training covers:

  • common allergens and intolerances
  • control of contamination and cross-contamination of allergenic ingredients
  • hygiene considerations with regards to allergen and ingredient control

The course lasts 1 day.

HABC Level 3 Award in Education and Training

The course provides an introduction to teaching for people who want to work or currently work in Further Education colleges or independent training providers.

Duration

Minimum 48 hours guided learning.

 

Level 2 Award in Food Safety Catering or Manufacturing

This course focuses on the needs of people who handle food in the catering and hospitality sectors. You will learn how to:

  • take responsibility for following food safety procedures
  • receive and store food safely

Completing this course will allow you to move on to our Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety.

Duration and dates

The course lasts 1 day and will run once a month in 2022: 

  • Monday 10 October 2022
  • Wednesday 16 November 2022
  • Tuesday 13 December 2022

The course takes place at Stockton Sixth Form College.

 

Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering

This course is for managers and supervisors or anyone who requires a broad understanding of food hygiene. It is particularly useful for people who have to develop or monitor Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) food safety procedures and systems.

Completing this course will allow you to the progress onto the Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering and Manufacturing.

Duration

The course lasts 3 days.

£290 per person.

Assessment

There is a examination paper consisting of 45 multiple choice questions. 

 

Level 2 Award in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles

This qualification is for people who work in the food industry who need basic knowledge and understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).

Duration

The course lasts 1 day.

£75 per person.

Assessment

There is an examination paper that consists of 15 multiple choice questions. 

 

Level 3 Award in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP)

This course expands on the fundamentals in the Level 2 HACCP course.

It is most suitable for:

  • supervisors
  • managers
  • chefs

Duration

The course lasts 3 days.

Assessment

There is an examination paper consisting of 40 multiple choice questions. 

 

Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety

This course is suitable for people in managerial or supervisory position. It provides the knowledge you need to ensure that your company operates in a hygienic and efficient way.

The course lasts 3 days.

Assessment

There is an examination paper consisting of 40 multiple choice questions. 

 

Level 2 Award in Nutrition (Healthier Food and Special Diets)

This course provides a basic understanding of nutrition and is targeted towards catering establishments who have a specific audience. For example, this course would be useful for school catering staff who want to learn about planning well-balanced meals and how they can have a positive impact on pupil health through the food that they provide.

Duration

The course will last 1 day.

Assessment

There is an examination paper consisting of 30 multiple choice questions.
