We provide help and support to businesses in the Borough. We are driving projects and providing services which will bring economic prosperity and create jobs.
Financial Assistance
Town Centre Retail Grant Scheme
We are not currently accepting applications for the Town Centre Retail Grant Scheme. Updates will be provided should there be a change to this.
A grant of up to £5,000 was available to eligible business, subject to an appraisal process. The grant was available to new businesses occupying vacant space within the area of:
- Stockton Town Centre
- Yarm High Street
- Norton High Street
- Thornaby Town Centre
- Billingham Town Centre
- Ingleby Barwick (central)
Individual location maps are available for each town, which defines the specific eligible location in each area. The grant was available to new businesses occupying vacant premises, although existing businesses were eligible if they were expanding and demonstrating growth and taking a new lease on a vacant property.
Stockton Town Centre Shop Frontage Scheme
We are not currently accepting applications for the Stockton Town Centre Shop Frontage Scheme. Updates will be provided should there be a change to this.
A grant was available to existing businesses within the area of Stockton Town Centre to improve the frontage of their premises and help continue to raise the overall quality and image of the area. A grant of up to £500 was available to existing retailers in Stockton Town Centre to contribute to improving the frontage of their property. This may include new signage, painting or general improvements.
Business Investment and Growth Support
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council provide business investment and growth support to help businesses innovate and grow. Supported by Tees Valley Combined Authority's (TVCA) Indigenous Growth Fund, the scheme provides support to enhance inward investment and business growth for businesses across the Borough. The main aim of the Council's business investment and growth is to promote area regeneration and enhance inclusive economic growth.
The support is targeted at small and medium enterprise businesses, alongside sole traders and freelancers, to help them grow their business or implement innovative ways of working to enhance sustainability and productivity.
