Hello everyone, I hope you are well.

To start the week, I met with Marc Stephenson, Assistant Director of Regulated Services and Transformation, to discuss the Council's flag policy.

I then joined an evaluation of the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer programme. The scheme is a government initiative aimed at young people aged 18 to 21 who are not in education, employment, or training. It offers tailored support to help young people access job opportunities and training through work placements, career advice, and skills development. It is a great opportunity for young people in our Borough to take the next steps toward a successful future.

Following this, I met with colleagues from the Labour Group.

On Tuesday morning, I met with a company that raises the profile of companion animals.

Later in the day, I had a catch up with Cabinet members.

Midweek, I attended Full Council. The agenda included Appointments to Committees and Outside Bodies for 2026 to 2027, and a review of the Statement of Licensing Policy.

Yesterday, I started the day with a meeting with Group Leaders to discuss current schemes and assist with any issues they have.

I then went to Norton Library to meet with a resident who needed some help and advice. Next, I joined a briefing for Tees Valley Combined Authority with other Cabinet members and TVCA officers.

I then met with some amazing care leavers, colleagues, and partners at the No Limits Hub. The hub provides a welcoming space where young care leavers can have formal meetings with their social worker or personal adviser, as well as take part in one-to-one sessions, various activities, and workshops. 

Today, I am catching up with paperwork and other important items.

This weekend, I have agreed to look after my 11-year-old niece Shari and 6-year-old nephew Sonny. We will No doubt we will have a walk to the wonderful Waterfront Park to tire them out so they will hopefully be in bed at a reasonable time!
