Stockton Waterfront urban park
A spacious urban park with vibrant event spaces, three large and unique play areas for families and children, and beautiful gardens offering peaceful spots for walking and reflection.
The Stockton Waterfront Urban Park features a diverse mix of more than 17,000 plants, including 224 species and 153 trees, designed by the late RHS Ambassador Nigel Dunnett, a pioneer in modern landscape design.
The planting scheme creates a vibrant and sustainable environment, with a mix of plants and features designed to meet different needs and tastes, making it an attractive and enjoyable place to visit.
The Oval Lawn provides a welcoming spot to sit and unwind.
An amphitheatre links the upper and lower areas of the park, with granite steps and a specially commissioned poem by Simon Armitage celebrating the town's heritage and its connection to the River Tees.
The park's layout draws inspiration from historic burgage plots and the long-standing links between the high street and the working river.
Across the park, historic references, illustrations and sculptures celebrate Stockton's unique heritage.
A land bridge creates a direct, uninterrupted route connecting Stockton High Street to the riverside.
