5. Consultation on possible changes to Post 16 Transport
In April 2026, the council's Cabinet approved the launch of formal statutory consultation on potential changes to the discretionary post 16 SEND Transport offer.
A consultation document will shortly be published on our website illustrating a range of potential changes, for example parent or carer contributions, the cessation of all non-statutory post 16 transport, or maintaining the current offer, whilst also exploring mitigations if changes are introduced, for example the phasing of the changes or personal travel budgets.
A decision will be taken, following a 28 day consultation period, by the Council's Cabinet, who will consider all reasonable options.
