20 June 2025
This week I started the week with Jonathan Nertney, Head of Democratic Services, for our regular catch up. We discussed lots of issues and our move to the new Council chamber.
I also met with Mike Greene, Chief Executive of the Council, for our weekly briefing where we discussed lots of topical issues.
On Thursday I was interviewed by Hits Radio to talk about what's happening this weekend in the Borough to celebrate Armed Forces Day. I am the Council's Armed Forces Champion, and I understand how important it is to support the armed forces community. I am looking forward to meeting people and visiting the stalls.
In the afternoon I attended a briefing ahead of a Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) workshop on Adult Skills in the Borough. I am the TVCA cabinet member for employment education and skills and I am trying to drive this agenda forward for residents in Stockton. We have another workshop that I am facilitating on Monday.
Today I am once again travelling to London for another awards ceremony where we have been shortlisted for Council of the Year, this time for the MJ Awards at Park Plaza. We're also shortlisted for the Innovation in Children's and Adults' Services Award. I'll let you know the outcome next week! Regardless of the result, I am very proud.
This weekend I am attending Armed Forces Day and then onto Redcar Races with my friends. Have a great weekend everyone.
