May is my last month as Mayor, and my engagement appear to be winding down.
I spent the bank holiday weekend attending the Spring Fayre at Ropner Park and then the Tees Valley Youth Orchestra’s 50 Anniversary concert at the Sage. I showed the Norton Ladies Group around the Town Hall, and supported the North Yorkshire Chairman in his charity fundraising by attending his Charity Dinner. I have one more Citizenship ceremony to attend – a monthly engagement that I have thoroughly enjoyed, welcoming new people to our borough. I’ll be going along to the Stockton, Thornaby and District Scouts Annual meeting to show my support to the young people of the borough and my final community engagement is to encourage the competitors at the Tees Regatta on Sunday.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the role and the opportunities to meet with so many people from different walks of life and communities. I have raised lots for my chosen charities, which will be donated to them at the Annual Meeting on 22 May, as well as giving out small donations from my Benevolent Fund. I hope that I have represented our Borough well and that you have enjoyed hearing about what I have been up to.
