Attended Priory Court in Norton to help celebrate their 30th birthday and the success of their sheltered accommodation housing. I met the tenants residing in these apartments, all of who are individually self-sufficient. They all told me how much they enjoyed residing there and value their independence, the oldest of which was a sprightly 95! Good luck to them all and enjoyable years to come in this accommodation.

Attended the Academic Awards ceremony at Teesside University, Middlesbrough, I was present for the awarding of the ceremony that honoured students that had attained degrees in Health and Social Care. I then went on a tour of the site which bore no resemblance to when I had last been in that location some two years ago. What a fantastic transformation, they have made a pedestrian area of Southfield Road across to the Dickens Inn and built the stunning building, the ‘CURVE ‘! No wonder the college is held in high esteem in the academic world; it seems a long time ago that the old Polytechnic stood alone there.
Chaired meeting of Full Council, which included a debate a petition handed in by residents opposed to the closure of Fairfield Library.
21 July 2016
Attended the funeral of the Mayoress of Sunderland, Mrs Janice Emerson who sadly died suddenly after a brief illness.
22 July 2016
Attended the event to celebrate the completion of the Cultures Homes Project CIC, in Dovecot Street, Stockton. This event celebrated the projects first completed renovation of 4 flats (in partnership with Thirteen Group) which after renovation were handed to the less fortunate people of the BME community who were in need of assistance with accommodation. Sade, who was in charge of the project, was rightly proud of their endeavours, which is just the first in an ambitious plan that would see the Project not only renovating but owning premises. Unfortunately as I was saying my goodbyes I suffered a Migraine and subsequently spent the rest of the day in bed.

Attended The Cleveland Agricultural and Horticultural Society Show in Stewards Park, Middlesbrough. There was a fantastic turn out with lots for the people to do and see, vast amount of craft fair on display as well as Knights on horseback, commercial displays, animals of all description etc. A show not to miss next year if you missed this years. Thank you to the organisers for a wonderful afternoon.
