Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council

Big plans, bright future

Week Commencing 25 April 2016

25 April 2016

Attended Ceremonial High Tea at the refurbished Duke of Cleveland hotel in Hartlepool at the request of the Mayor of Hartlepool. Had a nice tea but kept off the cakes as I have made a promise to myself that I must cut down on my sweet tooth cravings.

26 April 2016

Early start and attended the Mayor of Barnard Castles “ Treasures of the Teesdale “ tour. It was absolutely freezing with the tour taking place on a 1954 single decker (unheated) bus. We took in the fantastic scenery of the Teesdale countryside visiting Bowes and the sight of Dickens inspiration of Dotheboys Hall in Nicholas Nickleby. Then on to Baldersdale where we visited High Gill farm with famous Dales horses and TED the old English goat. We stopped off for tea at the Mayors home and then onto the Hub (new recreational build) All in all a very interesting and informative day which we both enjoyed, late finish but worth it.

27 April 2016

Chaired my first meeting of Full Council in the Town Hall.

29 April 2016

Attended Durham City Mayors Civic dinner in the Old Guild Hall, Town Hall, Durham. A regal setting with old fashioned guards carrying pikes, they escorted into the hall before ceremonially marching around the room.

It was a privilege to talk to new dignitaries and converse about Stockton, in fact a group of people from Sunderland said they were coming to SIRF (gave out a few what’s on booklets, I always keep a supply!)
