Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council

Big plans, bright future

March 2015

An update on and review of the targets set in the Council Plan will be today's main focus. I will sit with Council officers to look at our progress towards the goals set out in the document and to see where we can continue to develop and improve.

Tomorrow afternoon I will join members of the media to watch the Spanish theatre company, Carros de Foc, construct an 11 metre tall giant and an 8 metre wide eagle which will perform in Stockton this week as part of the celebrations to mark the launch of the Town Centre following its multimillion pound regeneration.

On Friday I will take the opportunity to catch up on Council business in the office before a busy weekend unfolds.

Saturday marks a huge day for Stockton as the new look High Street gets given the special treatment with our unique launch event to celebrate the completion of its regeneration.

The multimillion pound investment has helped to create a much more welcoming and enticing place to visit.

On Saturday the Mayor and I will formally open the new central garden as part of the town's relaunch so I would encourage everyone to come down to Stockton and enjoy the range of events for all ages taking place between 10am and 3pm.

The activities on offer include puppet making, face painting, storytelling, crazy golf and live music not to mention the spectacular performance by Carros de Foc which will see the High Street brought to life by a giant and huge eagle!

There will even be free parking in Wellington Square, the Castlegate Centre and in all Stockton Council car parks all day from 10am.

Bring your friends and family, I promise that this will not be an event to be missed!
