Much of my time today was spent concentrating on the current situation that is affecting Thornaby Academy. You may have seen in the local media that the future of the Academy is unclear, so I met with fellow members and senior officers to discuss the latest developments regarding this as well as considering some plans for the future.
Tomorrow I will be travelling to London for a meeting of the Local Government Association’s Children and Young People Board, of which I am a member. Our work is to support local authorities across the country to help children, young people and their families to achieve the best possible outcomes in various areas of their lives.
On Friday I will be making the most of some spare time in my diary to catch up on important Council business in my office.
Over the weekend I am looking forward to spending time with my family.
Back to work on Monday and the day will largely be dominated by a pre-agenda meeting of Cabinet at Municipal Buildings. Along with my fellow members, we’ll be considering a number of items that are working their way through to the next full meeting of Cabinet on Thursday 27 June.
On Tuesday, the Deputy Leader, Councillor Jim Beall, will join me for a couple of meetings with political group leaders before I receive my monthly briefing on our Targeted Action Area work that is making good strides in improving things for local residents across the Borough.
