Wednesday 10 July

This morning, Deputy Leader, Councillor Jim Beall and I will have our regular meeting with the Council’s Interim Managing Director, Julie Danks.  After that, Julie and I will see local entrepreneur Chris Musgrave, for an update on his latest projects.

Tomorrow I will be going to a briefing for all councillors arranged by the Thirteen housing group.  It will be an opportunity for them to be introduced to some of the new councillors who were elected in May and for us all to get a general overview of their work across Stockton Borough. After that I’ll be back at Municipal Buildings for a quick catch-up with the members of the Council’s Cabinet.

On Friday morning I’ll be attending the Tees Valley Combined Authority Informal Cabinet in my role as portfolio holder for Education, Employment & Skills.

In the afternoon I’ll have a monthly update from council officers about on-going work to bring communities together and carry out clean-ups in Central Stockton and Thornaby before joining Julie Danks for a catch-up with Stockton North MP Alex Cunningham.

This weekend I’ll be meeting the organisers of Billingham International Folklore Festival (BIFF) in my capacity as Chairman of BIFF to hear more about preparations for the popular event which will take place between the 10 and 18 August.

I’ll be back in the office throughout the early part of next week for a number of meetings with councillors.  Tomorrow afternoon I will be taking the new High Sheriff of Durham, Peter Candler and the new High Sheriff of North Yorkshire, Linda Fenwick on a tour of Stockton-on-Tees ahead of some training for the Mandatory Investigation and Disciplinary and Mandatory Appointment Panel.
