I travelled to London today for a meeting of the Local Government Association's Children and Young People Board. The Board brings together councillors from across the country to plan ways in which we can improve the wellbeing of children and young people. Important issues including education, social care and health were on the agenda.
Tomorrow I will attend a Members’ Advisory Panel meeting at Stockton Town Hall before preparing for a number of upcoming meetings.
On Friday I will meet with the Tees Valley Council Leaders’ Group for our weekly catch-up to discuss a number of developing issues across the region. There will then be an informal TVCA Cabinet meeting ahead of the scheduled meeting on Thursday 31 January. In the afternoon I will travel to Durham for a meeting of the Regional Leaders’ and Elected Mayors’ Group which presents a great opportunity for members to discuss important issues across the North East authorities.
Over the weekend I am looking forward to spending time with my family. After some impressive results I am confident Middlesbrough will secure a win when they take on Millwall at the Riverside on Saturday.
I will begin next week by attending a meeting of the People Select Committee, where a range of important issues will be scrutinised, including a report on the representation of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities in the Council’s workforce.
Next week I will be attending both Western and Eastern Locality Forum meetings. The forums are a chance for representatives from the public, private, voluntary and community sectors to come together to find ways of supporting and protecting the most vulnerable people in our community.
On Tuesday I will catch-up with Martin Waters, the TVCA’s Head of Homes and Communities, for our regular meeting to review a number of developments across the Borough. I will then be briefed on the Targeted Action Area initiative which sees agencies work together to tackle issues and support communities in Central Stockton and North Thornaby.
