Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council

Big plans, bright future

January 2016

Today I had a morning meeting with Garry Cummings, Director of Finance and Business Services for the Council, as I received an update briefing on the Council Plan.

The current Council Plan runs until 2018 and sets out our ambitions and priorities over that timeframe and helps us to monitor our progress in reaching these targets.

This afternoon I will travel to Cavendish House in Teesdale for a meeting of the Tees Valley Unlimited Leadership Board. The Board consists of key cross-sector leaders who seek to initiate real positive change for the area.

On Thursday I will utilise the opportunity to tackle some Council paperwork in the office.

On Friday I will meet with Beccy Brown, Director of HR, Legal and Communications for the Council, to discuss the results of the Residents’ Survey. The survey consults the views of our residents on a range of topics including the services we provide and what people think about living and working in the Borough.

Following that, I will be heading back to Cavendish House for a meeting of the Tees Valley Leaders and Mayors. As work continues apace toward the formation of a Combined Authority for the area, it is important for the group to meet regularly and be updated on the latest developments.

Over the weekend, I am looking forward to spending time with my family.

There is no game for Middlesbrough as it is FA Cup weekend but it’ll bring a welcome opportunity for the players to regroup after a couple of bruising defeats to Bristol City and Nottingham Forest.

I’m sure the manager will be keen to bring in some new options to the team and I am looking forward to seeing what new loan signing Gaston Ramirez, a Uruguayan international, can offer to the team as we move into the business end of the season.

Back to work on Monday and there is a pre-agenda meeting of Cabinet in the Jim Cooke Conference Suite.
