Last week offered a welcome opportunity to catch up and progress some paperwork at the office before a busy time ahead.
Last Thursday there was a pre-agenda meeting of the Cabinet as we prepared for the next full meeting and anticipated some of the issues that would be up for discussion to help us prepare appropriately.
This morning began with a meeting with Marie Fallon from the Environment Agency to get an update from her and look over a number of issues as we continue our work to develop a better local environment and support sustainable development.
This afternoon I will be attending the funeral of former Councillor David Coleman at Stockton Parish Church. It was with great sadness that I learned of David’s passing recently. He was a fantastic public servant and he will be a huge loss to his friends, family and colleagues both in the Council and the wider community.
David was Deputy Leader of the Council from 2001 to 2007 and was most recently the Cabinet Member for Access and Communities before retiring in May.
Over the weekend and bank holiday I will be spending time with my family. I will be tuning in to the commentary as Middlesbrough travel to Hillsborough to play Sheffield Wednesday. We don’t have a particularly good record there and with last weekend’s poor result in mind, I am hoping for a change in fortune for the Boro.
On Tuesday morning I will hold my regular meeting with Margaret Waggott, Head of Democratic Services for Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, as I am briefed on the latest issues facing the Council.
