Stockton Children's Book of the Year is 21 - and we want to hear your memories of it!
Stockton Children's Book of the Year has been enjoyed by hundreds of youngsters and brings a host of high profile authors to Stockton-on-Tees.
Every year schools across the Borough take part in the event which sees them read five exciting titles and vote for their favourite in a secret ballot.
The successful event is marking its 21st birthday this year by hosting a special two-day celebration on 24 and 25 March at Stockton Central Library. It will welcome past Stockton Children's Book of the Year authors, such as Tamsin Cooke, Piers Torday and Megan Rix who will offer visitors the chance to get involved in author talks and interactive workshops.
Meeting a favourite author in the flesh is an awe-inspiring occasion and organisers are asking for people to come forward with their memories of taking part in the event over the past 21 years.
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture for Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, said: "Since 1997 some of the nation's favourite children's authors have been crowned winners of Stockton Children's Book of the Year and young people from across the Borough have been truly inspired after meeting them face to face.
"We are looking to hear from anyone with fond or funny memories of this event and we would like to know how taking part encouraged them to become an avid reader, perhaps write their own book or even work in journalism. Please get in touch!
