Your local library can help with any requests that you have for reading and research materials. Here are some of our popular library services, online and available to you whenever you need them.
Available 24/7, this service allows you to browse the library catalogue, extend loan periods on borrowed books, reserve items, download eBooks to your computer/mobile device and keep track of your library loans.
You will need your library card number and PIN to check your library account, renew loaned items or place a request.

eBook and eAudio Catalogues
Stockton library members can borrow a wide range of eBooks and eAudiobooks at any time, day or night. Existing library members will need their library card and PIN to use these services. Those who are not library members (but who do live, work or visit the Borough regularly) can complete this Digital Access Membership form to to request a Digital Membership and receive a library card by post.
To change from Digital Membership to Full Membership simply visit any of our libraries with one form of identification. Examples of acceptable identification can be found here.
Under 16s will require consent from a parent or carer.
A large and wide ranging selection of fiction and non-fiction eBooks and eAudiobooks from popular authors including for teenagers and young children.
- Download up to 10 eBooks at a time to a home computer or mobile device.
- Maximum loan period of 21 days.
- Titles are automatically returned at the end of the loan period, so there are no late returns and no overdue items.
- Compatible with most eBook readers, excluding the Amazon Kindle*. Check the compatibility of your device.
- Access via your mobile using 'Libby' the Overdrive app. Download the Overdrive Libby app.
Access digital newspapers and magazines in the library or at home through PressReader.
Popular publications from the UK and all around the world are now available 24/7 and in 60 languages. There are dedicated iOS, Android and Windows apps for accessing PressReader on the move or get access through your web browser on your computer. Just sign in, browse and download. You can also listen to articles in the language of your choice.

Stockton Library App
Our Stockton Library app is free and available for iOS and Android users. As well as the usual find it, reserve it, borrow it tasks, the app allows you to scan any title, anywhere, and then research it and reserve it in the library catalogue.
It also includes library locations, opening hours, directions, events and Heritage pages. Regular service updates ensures you receive the latest information straight to your phone.
The Computer Suite
The Computer Suite is located on the first floor of Stockton Central Library and is our largest computer centre with PCs available for public use. We provide free access to the internet, email facilities and MS Office. We also provide free Wi-Fi access. Booking is advisable if you need to use the scanning facilities.
To use the computers in any of our libraries you are required to be a library member.
The Library Service provides free one-to-one tutoring sessions for PCs and laptops, including an introduction to the internet, emailing and basic computing. We also offer free tablet and eReader tutoring sessions. Please ask at your local library for further details.
