For Everyone’s Safety

As from Saturday the 8 August it is mandatory to wear face masks in Libraries.  So, don’t forget to bring your face mask with you.

To keep you and our staff safe during COVID19, numbers permitted within Libraries have been reduced. Once we reach this figure, we will operate a 1 in 1 out system. Browsing time has been reduced to 20 minutes at each Library and we have introduced a strict PC booking system.

Returned books are quarantined for 72 hours before being re-shelved please place your returned books on the trolley provided at the entrance to the Library.

Billingham, Norton, Stockton, Thornaby Central and Yarm are open for book returns, limited browsing, reduced ICT access and pre-lockdown reservation collections. 

Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

All Libraries are taking details for Test and Trace when people are entering Library facilities. Details will be retained for 21 days before it is disposed of securely.

 

Opening hours

Monday to Friday 10am – 1pm  2pm – 4.30pm. Last admittance 4.10pm

We are closed for lunch between 1pm-2pm

 

New weekend opening hours

From Saturday, September 5, Billingham, Stockton and Thornaby Central libraries will be open from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.

From Saturday, September 5, Norton and Yarm libraries will be open from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays. 

The book request service will resume from Tuesday 1 September for books currently on our library stock.

ICT Access

ICT access is limited to 1 session per day of 45 minutes at one of the following libraries;

Billingham Library – 01642 528084

Thornaby Central Library – 01642 528117

ICT access is not available at Yarm Library.

Bookings can be made via telephone, at the end of a pre booked session or if there is a session free when attending the Library. Please note staff will not be able to book you on a computer part way through a session. This is due to staff requiring time to clean the ICT equipment at the end of every session.

Morning Sessions commence at 10.15am,11.15am and 12.15pm

Afternoon sessions commence at 2.15pm and 3.15pm with cleaning time allowed between each booking.

Ingleby Barwick Library

Ingleby Barwick Library opens to the public on Monday 10 August 2020. We hope you like our lovely new home as much as we do.

Opening Hours will be:

Monday to Friday 9am – 8pm

Saturday 10am – 4pm

Sunday 10am – 2pm

Last admittance is 20 minutes prior to closure.

ICT access is limited to 1 session per day of 45 minutes.

Bookings are available at the following times:

  • Monday to Friday 9.15am, 10.15am, 11.15am, 12.15pm, 2.15pm, 3.15pm, 4.15pm, 5.15pm, 6.15pm
