Household Waste and Recycling Centre at Haverton Hill

The Household Waste and Recycling Centre at Haverton Hill is now open but you must book an appointment to use it.

Along with the site’s managers, SUEZ, we have put an appointment booking system and a number of other restrictions in place to ensure everybody’s safety.

What are the restrictions?

The restrictions are as follows:

- you can only use the site if you make an appointment first
- the site will be open to cars only for now (no vans, commercial-type vehicles or trailers)
- we can only allow one person per car (with the exception of Blue Badge holders, who can be accompanied by one family member)
- social distancing of at least two metres will be strictly enforced
- site staff will not be able to assist with unloading

How do I book an appointment?

If you want to use the Household Waste Recycling Centre, due to COVID 19 restrictions, you have to book an appointment. You can do this online by visiting

Appointments are available from 8am to 7pm, seven days a week. You can book a half hour appointment slot. Each half hour slot will accommodate a maximum of 20 bookings, available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We currently require a minimum of 48 hours between the day on which you book and the slot you are booking, as a result you may be able to see slots that are not fully booked but which you cannot book because they are within the next 48 hours. We are working to improve our booking system but booking online remains the fastest way to book.

Residents who do not have internet access can book an appointment slot by calling Customer Services on 01642 391 959. Again, you cannot book a slot within the next 48 hours by telephone.

Please note – this booking system is for Stockton-on-Tees residents only. You will need to provide a postcode when booking and bring proof of address when you attend the centre.

There is a very high demand for appointments so please be patient.

Will I need to show proof of address?

Yes. When you attend your pre-booked slot, you will need to show photographic ID (such as a driving licence) as proof that you live in the Borough in order to gain entry to the site.

Can I buy a permit to bring a van or trailer?

No. We are allowing cars only for now, but we will keep this situation under review.

Can I get into the site without an appointment?

No. Please do not come to the site if you have not got an appointment as you will not be granted access. And if you do have an appointment, please arrive on time as we can only allow you access at the time you have booked. If you miss your appointment slot, you will have to book another one.
