Public Space Surveillance
Our Public Space Surveillance (PSS) network is a key tool in the fight against crime and disorder. With the aim of improving our communities, we monitor over 180 cameras in town centre areas, housing estates, parks and open spaces.
We recognise that some people regard surveillance cameras as an infringement of personal liberty. We believe that everyone has the right to respect for their private and family life. That’s why we ensure our cameras are carefully positioned and used in a way that respect people’s privacy. It is also why we maintain independent accreditation to ensure what we do, is always of the highest professional standard and follows the latest national guidance and best practice.
We have a policy of never allowing footage, captured by our CCTV network, to be sold to media companies. For further advice and information regarding our public space surveillance, please contact: [email protected] or telephone: 01642 528989.
