Information about School Admissions Appeals
In response to the COVID-19 situation the Department for Education has now issued Regulations and Guidance regarding the holding of this year’s school admission appeals. Face to face appeal hearings will not now take place and appeal hearings for Schools and Academies in the Borough will be considered on written representations.
The revised timetable for dealing with this year’s school admission appeals is noted below:
Main Round Secondary School Admission Appeals (appeals for Year 7 admission in September 2020):
- Parents/carers who have submitted an appeal will be contacted by letter in week commencing 4 May 2020 with details of the process and timetable to be followed
- Appeal panel hearings are planned to be convened week commencing 22 June 2020
Main Round Primary School Admission Appeals (appeals for a place in Reception in September 2020):
- Parents/carers who have submitted an appeal will be provided with the appeal documentation by 2 July 2020
- Appeal Panel hearings are now planned to take place week commencing 3 August.
In Year Transfer Appeals
Unfortunately we are not going to be able to hear in year transfer appeals by the end of the school term but will be liaising with schools and academies to ascertain if appeal arrangements can be made for the end of August and early September 2020.
