Information about Free School Meals

Free school meals

If your child is usually eligible for free school meals but is learning from home please contact your child's school directly to find out how the meal will be provided.

The COVID-19 national voucher scheme is open to those eligible for benefits-related free school meals. Check your eligibility and make an application here.

Household Support Fund

The Government has announced that a new Household Support Fund will be made available to local authorities to support people most in need this winter.

Stockton-on-Tees families with children receiving free school meals will be given food vouchers (subject to Government approving the Council's proposal to use the funding in this way).

Food vouchers will be distributed as follows:

  • £80 per child in receipt of free school meals or per child identified by schools as needing support with the cost of food or utility bills. The vouchers will be distributed by schools during November 2021.

There is no need to apply for the vouchers. If you are eligible you will receive them automatically via your child’s school in November.
