It’s our ambition to provide a vibrant and modern town centre that makes Billingham a different place and experience through inclusive and accessible new spaces, while safeguarding the traditional retail offering.
Although Billingham was not selected for the Government’s Towns Fund, we’ve remained committed to investing in the town centre and securing its long-term future, alongside pursuing other funding opportunities.
The Council wants to take control of Billingham Town Centre and intends to pursue the acquisition of the town centre freehold, including the West Precinct building and the adjacent car park, from current owners St Modwen Ltd.
Following this, detailed due diligence undertaken with St Modwen will commence to negotiate a purchase price through to completion.
It’s clear that Billingham is in need of investment and that we are best placed to bring about that transformational change.
