Local Land Charges Register and Searches

Planning documents

A national lockdown is in place which means you must stay at home.

For information about the rules, any disruptions to Council services, how to book a COVID-19 test and the support available for residents and businesses visit www.stockton.gov.uk/coronavirus

The Council is required by law to keep a Land Charges Register. The Register records relevant information on every property within Stockton Borough. It includes information about highways, planning conditions, conservation areas, tree preservation orders, enforcement notices, improvement grants and financial charges relating to the property which is the subject of the search.

Searches of the Land Charges Register are carried out when a property or land is sold. The purpose of a search is to disclose to the interested parties any relevant entries on the Register that may affect the property to be purchased.

Please note that turnaround times for Local Land Charges have temporarily increased to:

  • Official Searches - 7 working days
  • Assisted Searches – 10 working days
