Beall, Jim

Councillor Jim Beall

Councillor Jim Beall represents Roseworth Ward and was elected in 2007.

I was elected to the Council after more than 30 years working in local government. Most of my experience during those years was working in a social care environment. I started as a care assistant, moved into social work and eventually into operational and strategic management positions.

After leaving local government in 2004, I undertook some consultancy work and was a Peer Reviewer for the Local Government Improvement and Development's Healthy Communities programme. However, my Council duties and voluntary work take up nearly all my time now. My eldest granddaughter says I'm busier now than when I was working!

In 2011, I became Deputy Leader of the Council whilst continuing in my position as Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Health with special responsibility for a wide range of services for some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. In 2012, this was extended to include the Council's new Public Health responsibilities and I became Chair of the Stockton-on-Tees Health & Wellbeing Board.

In 2019, I have taken up a new Cabinet portfolio of Health, Leisure and Culture with all the opportunities that brings to improve peoples wellbeing.

I am the Council's representative on the Council of Governors for North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust who provide the main hospital services and community health services for the people of Stockton.

I have extensive Community & Voluntary Sector governance experience including representation to Stockton's Local Strategic Partnership which I now attend as a Cabinet Member.

I am a governor of Rosebrook School, having also the honour of being its first Chair of Governors.

I am Chair of the Eastern Ravens Trust children's charity which provides services to disadvantaged young people including young carers.

I couldn't possibly do all of this without the support and understanding of my loving wife, Pauline. Since she couldn't "beat me", she has joined me on the council representing Stockton Town Centre Ward. When I have any free time, I enjoy being a grandfather, holidaying abroad, live music and comedy plus popular performing arts in general. I also follow Middlesbrough Football Club.

Cleveland Police

Information on your local Neighbourhood Team.

Although Roseworth has about average crime (and anti-social behaviour) levels in the Borough, our Neighbourhood Police Team are determined to reduce this even further. But they can't do it without your help! Police and Ward Councillors urge residents to report all crime so that resources can be targeted to the right place and a case can be put forward for more if needed.

Online Services

Report it - Apply for it - Pay for it. As well as the usual ways of contacting the Council for a service, a range of services can now be requested online. To find out more about the Online Services use visit Most Popular and Do It Online.
