How to pay your Council Tax bill

 

Direct debit

Direct debit is the easiest way to pay your Council tax. You can pick a payment date that suits you (1st, 5th, 15th or 28th of the month) and can pay over 10 or 12 monthly instalments. Your payment is automatically debited from your account.

Payment using home banking

You can pay using your own home banking facility with your own bank or building society. Please quote:

Your full Council Tax Account Number (located on the front of your bill)

Please allow 3 working days for payments to be credited to your account.

 

Payments over the phone

You can make a payment by phoning our 24-hour automated payment line on 0330 555 6780. You will need your Council tax account number (located on the front of your bill) and your debit or credit card. Calls to this number are charged at a local rate.

Visit one of our offices with your bill and payment:

 

By post

For security please only send cheques through the post, payable to Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. Please write your address and account number on the back of the cheque. If you would like a receipt please enclose a stamped-addressed envelope along with your payment.

Payments at the Post Office or Payzone outlet

Contact the Customer Services team on 01642 397108 to arrange for us to send you a new Council Tax bill with a barcode to allow you to pay at a Post Office or Payzone outlet. Find your nearest Payzone outlet.

 

Problems paying your bill?

Your Council tax instalments must be paid on the due dates shown on your bill. If you have difficulties making payments, please contact us as soon as possible on 01642 397108.
