September 2015

Earlier today I met with Joanne Parker, Housing Regeneration Project Officer for Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, to get an update on the Norton Park housing development.

The site is well placed to develop a strong and vibrant community and I’m looking forward to seeing how we are progressing towards that aim. On Thursday I will take the opportunity to tackle some Council paperwork in the office.

Friday brings a busy schedule starting with the launch event for the Fusion Hive facility on Stockton’s Northshore. It is primed to be a centre of innovation in the area for many years to come and I am delighted to be attending its opening.I hope it is a great success.

Later in the evening, there is an event at Preston Hall hosted by the Lord Lieutenant for North Yorkshire, Mr Barry Dodds CBE – it’ll be good to catch up again with some friends and colleagues to hear of their latest work.

Over the weekend, I am looking forward to spending time with my family. I’ll keep a keen ear tuned to BBC Tees to hear how Middlesbrough get on against Reading at the Madejski Stadium. Boro did well to come away with a comfortable 3-0 victory over rivals Leeds last weekend and it would be fantastic to secure another three points before the international break.

Back to work on Monday morning and I will have my regular meeting with Neil Schneider, Chief Executive of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, and Councillor Jim Beall, Deputy Leader of the Council as we discuss the latest issues facing the authority.

Later on Monday I will also meet with Professor Stuart Corbridge, the vice-chancellor of Durham University, and Professor Ray Hudson, the departing acting vice-chancellor.

On Tuesday I will travel to Manchester for a Rail North Association meeting. It’ll be good to get an update on the latest projects and proposals happening regarding rail travel and gauge what impacts this will have for our area.
