This week got off to a disappointing start as Middlesbrough were unable to get themselves over the line and achieve promotion to the Premier League as they went down 2-0 to Norwich City at Wembley.

Around 40,000 Teessiders descended on London for the big match and it was brilliant to see such a display of togetherness and community spirit pushing the team forward. Here’s to next season and I hope Aitor Karanka and his team can go one better and get the rich rewards that they and the fans deserve.

Back to work and I have been catching up with Council business in the office this week ahead of the Annual General Meeting which takes place next Wednesday and will see some Councillors officially installed into their Cabinet posts.

I’m looking forward to spending some time with my family over the weekend.

Monday will bring a trip to Leeds Civic Hall to attend an update meeting on the HS2 rail project before returning to the office to press on with Council affairs.
