Today I paid a visit to the Security Centre in Stockton alongside Jamie McCann, Director of Community Services, and Marc Stephenson, Waste Cleansing & Security Services Manager, to take a tour of the new equipment in use there. The staff working at the centre do a terrific job of helping to keep our communities safe.
Tomorrow I am taking a trip on the train down to London for a meeting of the Local Government Association Children and Young People’s Board at Layden House in London. The board work to support all councils in helping our children, young people and families to achieve the best possible outcomes in various areas.
Back to Municipal Buildings on Friday and my first meeting of the day will involve reviewing the latest updates regarding welfare reform in the Borough alongside some senior officers.
I’ll then be making the most of the opportunity to catch up on some important Council paperwork in the office before speaking at an event at a nursery in Ingleby Barwick to celebrate its ‘outstanding’ status as a provider.
Over the weekend I am looking forward to spending time with my family.
Back to work on Monday and I will join my colleagues for a pre-agenda meeting to review the items that will be up for discussion ahead of the next Cabinet meeting later in July.
On Tuesday I will be travelling to attend the Local Government Association annual conference in Birmingham. The conference is a good opportunity to network again with other Leaders, Chief Executives and senior officials to review our progress in the last 12 months and to debate the opportunities and challenges facing local government in the future.
