Today I will be making the most of some free time to catch up on important Council paperwork and to prepare for forthcoming meetings.
There is an update meeting on plans for the Durham Tees Valley Airport tomorrow at Cavendish House. A special Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) Overview and Scrutiny Committee will then be held with the proposed operators of the airport. This will be a useful opportunity for members to raise any questions in light of the business plan and discuss how it may operate in the future.
On Friday my day will begin with the weekly meeting of the Tees Valley Council Leaders’ Group where we will provide an update on any developing issues in our areas. This will be followed by an informal TVCA Cabinet meeting where members will take time to consider proposals for the future of the Durham Tees Valley Airport.
Middlesbrough have a long trip south this weekend to face Reading who are sitting near the bottom of the Championship table. The festive period presents a number of tough matches for the side, but some attractive home fixtures, so I am hoping they can turn their recent poor form around sooner rather than later.
As ever I’m really looking forward to spending time with family and friends over Christmas and New Year. It’s really important to recognise the commitment and dedication of so many members of staff over the festive period. A huge thank you from me to all colleagues who work around the clock to provide vital services for the residents of Stockton-on-Tees.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope you and your family have a happy and healthy 2019.
