This morning I met Steve Rose, Chief Executive Officer of Catalyst – the Stockton-on-Tees organisation which supports the Borough’s Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector. It was good to discuss the latest developments in the sector and the work Catalyst is doing to help a range of organisations.
There’s a busy Full Council meeting tonight, with a special meeting being held beforehand at which Council will be asked to give consideration to the posthumous appointment of Honorary Aldermen to Stephen Smailes, a former long-serving councillor and Mayor of the Borough.
Tomorrow morning, I’m attending a meeting of the Tees Valley Combined Authority Board at Cavendish House. Among the items on the agenda will be an investment update, action plans for priority sectors, and borrowing powers. I’m back at Cavendish House on Friday morning for the weekly Tees Valley Council Leaders’ Group meeting at Cavendish House before catching up on some work in the office in the afternoon.
On Saturday, Middlesbrough travel to South Yorkshire to face a Sheffield Wednesday side in worse form than the Boro themselves, before a Boxing Day clash at home to bottom-three dwellers Bolton Wanderers. Boro’s own form is erratic at best right now but these are two matches we really need to win ahead of a tough New Year weekend.
Of course, I’m really looking forward to spending time with family and friends this Christmas, and would like to wish you and your friends and families a very merry Christmas too. I hope you have a wonderful and peaceful time and send my best wishes to everyone for a happy and healthy 2018.
