The working week got underway today when I met with Margaret Waggott, Head of Democratic Services for Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. We discussed a range of items to ensure we had a good grasp of the issues, challenges and opportunities that we will face in the New Year.
On Thursday I will be taking the opportunity to catch up on some important Council paperwork in the office.
Friday brings a visit to the Royal Mail Delivery Office to pass on Christmas wishes to the fantastic staff there at their busiest time of the year. They work so hard to make sure that all of our cards and presents arrive on our doorsteps in time for the big day.
I will show my support for the workers and thank them for their dedication.
Later in the day there is a meeting of the Association of North East Councils Leaders and Mayors at the County Hall in Durham.
Over the weekend I am looking forward to spending time with my family as Christmas approaches.
Middlesbrough are away at the Amex Stadium this weekend to face Brighton who have had a fantastic first half of the season. It would represent a real marker being laid down if Boro could take all three points from the game but the challenge is a big one.
Back to work on Monday and I will meet with Councillor Jim Beall, Deputy Leader of the Council, and Neil Schneider, Chief Executive of the Council, as we review the agenda for the next meeting of Cabinet.
I then have the pleasure of opening a new counselling room at Bridge House in Stockton. They do great work in supporting the homeless, endeavouring to assist them in their growth and development ready for independent living.
I am then attending a family wedding which I am looking forward to.
From Tuesday onward I will then be taking the time to take care of some Council business in the office as everything winds down towards Christmas.
Finally I would like to wish you and your families a fantastic Christmas. I hope it is a wonderful time for all with many memories made.
My best wishes to everyone for a happy and healthy 2016.
