The Boundary Commission for England (BCE) is inviting people to contribute their views on proposals to alter the boundaries of parliamentary constituencies in our area.
They are being reviewed by the national independent body as required by the updated rules in the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 2020 and must be formally reported to the Speaker of the House of Commons by 1 July 2023.
The boundaries reflect the area where the electorate within vote for their Member of Parliament (MP).
The initial proposals would reduce the number of constituencies in the North East from 29 to 27 and would mean changes to constituency boundaries including Stockton North and a renamed Stockton West.
To view the proposals in full, visit the Boundary Commission for England’s website here.
An eight-week period of consultation began on 8 June 2021 and the BCE is required to consider all representations during this time.
Following this stage of consultation, the BCE will publish all submissions on their website for each region.
You have until 2 August 2021 to have your say by visiting https://www.bcereviews.org.uk/.
You can also submit your views by emailing [email protected] or by writing to the BCE at 35 Great Smith Street, London, SW1P 3BQ.
