Residents across the Stockton-on-Tees Borough can benefit from free energy efficiency improvements worth up to £10,000.

It’s all thanks to a multi-million pound project, led by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, working with E.ON.

Funding provided by the Local Authority Delivery Fund offers free energy efficiency measures such as air source heat pumps, solar panels and external wall and loft insulation.

Here’s all you need to know.

Who is eligible?

You could be eligible if your annual household income is less than £30,000 and your property has an energy efficiency rating of D, E, F, or G.

Landlords may also be eligible for a grant of up to £5,000 for improvements, but will be required to make a contribution towards the total cost.

What do I do if I think I qualify?

If you think you could be eligible for home improvements, visit E.ON’s website.

You can also call E.ON on 0333 202 4820 between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Friday.

What will happen if I do qualify?

If you qualify, E.ON will survey your home to assess which energy efficiency measures could be installed.

They will then discuss the options with you for a final decision to be reached.

How long is the scheme running for?

The scheme is expected to run until December 2021, but will operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

What do Councillors think?

Councillor Mike Smith, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone who meets the criteria to do their bit to help the environment and also save money on future fuel bills.

"We are aiming to reach over 100 homes and there is no cost to the householder and no strings attached.

“I would urge anyone who thinks they’re eligible to get in touch with E.ON as soon as they can and take-up this fantastic offer.

“Don’t leave it too late and miss out!”

What do E.ON think?

Nigel Dewbery, Director of Residential Solutions at E.ON, said: “Improving the energy efficiency of homes across the UK is key to meeting the nation’s net-zero targets, and can dramatically improve people’s living conditions, by helping to increase their comfort and reduce their energy bills.

“We’re delighted to be bringing these benefits to households across Stockton-on-Tees as we continue to work with the Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council to install energy efficiency measures, such as insulation, solar panels or air source heat pumps, in the homes of eligible residents.”
