Fancy running and cycling along the picturesque banks of the River Tees?

Time is running out to sign up for this year’s Stockton Duathlon.

Entries are still open for competitors of all abilities to take part in the popular event, which is being held on Sunday April 26.

Participants can choose from three distances:

  • Go-Tri distance - 2k run, 10k cycle, 1k run
  • Sprint distance - 5k run, 20k cycle, 2.5k run
  • Standard distance - 10k run, 40k cycle, 5k run

Go-Tri and Sprint distances are open to anyone aged over 15 and anyone aged 17 years and over can take part in the Standard distance.

Races cost between £25 and £49, whilst spectators can enjoy the event for free.

The deadline for entries is Monday April 18.

Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Leisure and Culture, said: “What I think is great about Stockton Duathlon is it really doesn’t matter what sort of previous experience you have. Whether it is your hundredth race or your first, the Duathlon is a great opportunity to run and cycle in a beautiful setting.

“We have had some horrible weather at the beginning of the year, so it would be lovely to have the sun shining on the competitors.

“I would hate to think someone who wants to take part in the Duathlon misses out on the event, so get signed up before it is too late.

“I love seeing people enjoying taking part in the Duathlon, especially the moment they cross the finish line, which must be a great feeling.”

Cash prizes are up for grabs for the first (£500), second (£300) and third (£200) placed males and females in the Standard distance race.

All participants will receive a t-shirt, medal and goodie bag, as well as free downloadable high-resolution photographs.

Stockton Duathlon is hosted by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council in partnership with TriHard and is supported by British Triathlon.
