INTERNATIONAL students are receiving a warm welcome to Stockton-on-Tees ahead of their studies at Durham University’s International Study Centre (ISC).
Before the semester begins at ISC’s Queen’s Campus on the banks of the Tees, the new intake took part in numerous activities across the Borough.
Mike McGrother and Apollo Arts welcomed the students to Stockton town centre, where they met the Mayor and watched the iconic Stockton Flyer.
They were introduced to the ice rink, pool, gym and GoClimb facilities at Billingham Forum, before taking a tour of the town.
Councillor Bob Cook, Leader of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, said: “It is brilliant to welcome more international students to our Borough. I wish them well in their studies and hope they take advantage of everything the area has to offer.
“Their year-round presence is a massive boost for the local economy, and the number of families who will come to visit underpins the need for the new Hilton hotel which is well under way.”
The ISC prepares non-EU students for entry onto Durham University undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
