roadworks thumb

WEEKEND and overnight roadworks are set to get under way on a busy Billingham roundabout just off the A19.

The works are being carried out in preparation for the introduction of traffic lights on the A689/A1185 Wolviston roundabout.

There will be lane closures on the roundabout from 8am to 6pm this Sunday (October 7).

Then from Monday (October 8), the whole roundabout and its approaches will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am.

The overnight closures will be required for up to seven nights and signed diversion routes will be in place throughout.

Stagecoach service 36 will be diverted during the closures and will not serve the bus stops between the A689/A1185 Wolviston roundabout and Stockton Road’s junction with Torquay Avenue.

There will be no alternative provision to the bus stops at Wolviston roundabout and Newton Bewley but a half hourly service 36 shuttle bus will operate between Greatham, Stockton Road and Hartlepool town centre. Passengers will be able to transfer between the shuttle bus and the main service 36 in Hartlepool town centre.
