TWO special events are coming to Stockton Libraries this month to please comic book and cartoon fans alike and the best news is – they’re free!
Free Comic Book Day will celebrate all that is amazing and exciting about the world of superheroes on Saturday 5 May, while a certain colourful elephant will be the centre of attention on Saturday 26 May.
Here’s how you and your family can get involved with both.
Free Comic Book Day – Saturday 5 May
Free Comic Book Day arrives this Saturday (5 May) where children and young people can pick up a free comic book while stocks last at the following libraries:
- Billingham Library
- Ingleby Barwick Library
- Norton Library
- Stockton Central Library
- Thornaby Central Library
- Yarm Library
Thornaby Central Library is also asking superheroes to come down and create their own crafts and experience the amazing new photo booth at the library’s Imagination Station. Sessions run 10am to 11.30am and 12.30pm to 2pm and are suitable for ages five to 11. Booking is advised by contacting 01642 528117.
All budding superheroes are being called to Stockton Central Library in fancy dress for a special drop-in event between 10am and 2pm to join in themed activities and crafts. It’s suitable for all ages and the perfect opportunity to pick up your free comic book.
Elmer Day – Saturday 26 May
Join Stockton Libraries to celebrate the nation’s favourite big-eared mammal, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant.
Colourful fun for all the family is on offer at Billingham Library, between 10am and 11am, where visitors are being asked to wear their brightest clothes to enjoy an Elmer story before they’ll get the chance to make their very own Elmer to parade home with. Suitable for ages four to 11, booking is advised by calling 01642 528084.
A colouring competition takes centre stage at Stockton Central Library between 10am and 3pm. This drop-in session is suitable for all ages and promises plenty of fun, stories and more.
Elmer has gone missing at Thornaby Central Library, can you help to find him? An afternoon of drop-in crafts and activities are on offer for under 7s between 10am and 3pm.
Both events have been organised by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Libraries service. Visit www.stockton.gov.uk/libraries to learn more about joining a library, reserving books and checking out the latest events happening near you.
