PROFESSIONAL and recreational riders alike can now pick their route as registration for the eighth edition of Stockton Sportive is open.
The challenge on Saturday, July 14, offers cyclists of all abilities the choice of four routes ranging from around 36 to 106 miles.
All riders set off from Stockton Riverside, before heading into the beautiful scenery of the North Yorkshire Moors.
The four routes are:
- Spin – 36.7 miles – perfect for first time Sportive riders, recreational riders and people returning to cycling. No major climbs.
- Sport – 50 miles – ideal for the progressing Sportive rider and cyclists with some experience. Great scenery and some large climbs.
- Challenge – 72 miles – ride deep into the North Yorkshire Moors on this stunning ride with tough climbs and exhilarating descents.
- Le Tour De Moor – 105.8 miles – the toughest and most rewarding Sportive ride.
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “Stockton Sportive is an incredibly popular part of the three day Stockton Cycling Festival which brings some of the country’s top riders to the town centre at the height of summer.
“Whether you’re an experienced rider or a novice, there will be an amazing atmosphere with hundreds of other cyclists inspiring you along the way.
“Every ride departs with an escorted start, just like the ‘Tour de France’, and there will be Feeding Stations, a Broom Wagon and support throughout the routes.
“Spaces are limited so we want to get the message out and encourage people to sign up and see if they have what it takes!”
Prices range from £20 - £27.50 depending on your chosen route. No entries will be accepted on the day.
