hotel contract win for web

ANOTHER Tees business has secured a contract working on the new Hampton by Hilton hotel in Stockton.

TMG Joinery (UK) Ltd will install the door-sets, mouldings and skirting boards at the 128-bed hotel after successfully bidding for the joinery works package.

And the firm is sourcing all of the doors and frames from Thornaby-based Cotswold Manufacturing Ltd, making it a double boost for the area.

Director of TMG Joinery (UK) Ltd, Graham McDonald, said: “We installed the doors and fittings at the Hampton by Hilton hotel in Edinburgh so it’s brilliant to work on a second hotel in the group and one that’s right here on our doorstep.

“We’re really excited that such a well-established name like Hilton is coming to Stockton, and it’s great for us to be associated with what is a very prestigious project.”

Martyn Sandison, Business Development Manager for Cotswold Manufacturing Ltd, added: “The majority of our work is supplied to businesses in London and the south so we are thrilled to work on a local project, and one which is benefiting local business like ours.

“We have a great relationship with TMG Joinery (UK) Ltd and we’re looking forward to working on the hotel together.”

The hotel is being built on the former dairy car park site, and will be owned by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

Councillor Nigel Cooke, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, said: “The hotel is reaching for the skies now and this is just another example of how our project is supporting local firms and local jobs.

“We’ve said all along that local companies will have an opportunity to win contracts on the hotel and share in its success, and that’s exactly what’s happening. In this case, you could say the project has opened doors for two cracking local businesses!

“And by spending with local contractors we’re seeing economic gains before the hotel has even opened.”

Bowmer & Kirkland Project Manager, Shaun Powell, added: “As a main contractor with a base in the North East of England, we are always interested in adding to our excellent supply chain in the region.

“Projects like this are the perfect way for us to meet and contract with local firms but the benefits don’t end here because it also gives them the chance to bid for further work with us.”

Earlier this year, it was announced that Tees-based Midas had landed the contract to clad the hotel.

The hotel site forms part of the mixed-use Northshore regeneration scheme which incorporates new offices, homes and leisure facilities near Stockton town centre.

The 56-acre, £300million scheme is a partnership between Muse Developments, Homes England and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.
