Local firms have the chance to learn about more than 60 work packages needed for the restoration of the Globe and construction of the new Ingleby Barwick leisure facility at an event next week.

A ‘Meet the Buyer’ event is being held at Stockton Baptist Church at 6pm on Thursday 8 February.

Hosted by Willmott Dixon Construction Limited, the contractor for both schemes, and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, the event offers the chance to hear about the range of opportunities for local businesses.

The Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Housing, Councillor Nigel Cooke, said: “We want as many local companies as possible to get involved in these two exciting, yet very different schemes.

“The restoration of the Globe is seeing the art-deco venue brought back into use as a 3,000 capacity live entertainment venue creating 250 jobs and attracting more than 200,000 visitors to Stockton each year.

“Meanwhile, Ingleby Barwick Leisure Facility will provide much needed public leisure facilities including a swimming pool for local people.”

Nick Corrigan, Operations Director at Willmott Dixon in the North East, added: “We are delighted to have been appointed for the restoration of the Globe and construction of the new Ingleby Barwick leisure facility.

“We want to ensure local companies benefit as much as possible and that's why this event is important as we'll be able to meet lots of potential suppliers from the area that can play a key role in delivering these two important projects."
