RESIDENTS across Stockton-on-Tees could secure big savings on their energy bills by taking part in a collective switching scheme.
The Big Community Switch gives people the opportunity to form a single buying unit where energy suppliers have to bid for their custom.
The more people signed up and registered to switch, the more competitive the deal is likely to be.
Councillor Mike Smith, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said: “Last year’s auction saw residents save an average of £168, and since we started promoting collective switching over 1,000 households are collectively saving in excess of £180,000 a year.
“With no cost or obligation for residents to register or accept the personal offer received I would encourage everybody to get involved.
“We are very pleased to offer the scheme again in partnership with iChoosr. There are big savings to be made!”
Registration is open to residents until November 19, 2018. Those outside of the Borough are eligible to register until October 8, 2018.
